"We grew up together as best friends. We lost contact after our military service in 1970 and then we had a brief contact when I returned in 1976 from working overseas. The subsequent years of our lives were separate but ran parallel in many ways. You've now joined the other member of our circle, Randy Bargas in a divine reunion.
I'll surely miss you both...but
you're entering the next phase of existence, as we believed as teenagers,
which will be on a higher plane...

Services will be held in Santa Cruz on Sunday, July 22, 2007, for Dennis Ray Lusk, who passed away peacefully on July 15, 2007 at Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. following a lengthy illness. His loving family was at his bedside. Born in Tacoma, Washington, he was 58 years old. Dennis moved to Santa Cruz at the age of 12, and graduated from Soquel High School. He had been a resident of Salinas for the past 10 years. Dennis worked for various apartment managing firms and specialized in appliance repairs. He was employed with Pajaro Dunes for many years and also worked for Burdick's Appliance Stores. At the time of his passing, he was employed with A.F. Evans Northridge Park Apartments in Salinas. He served his country in U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. His family will forever hold dearly the many memories of Dennis's love for the outdoors. He loved to camp and fish. He especially loved teaching his children how to fish on the many family camping trips to Idaho. He played on Santa Cruz Rec. softball teams, and was a long time teammate of 'The Sundowners' and 'Jack's Hamburgers'. He was a big fan of the San Francisco 49ers, and also enjoyed collecting coins. He was an aficionado of collector cars and classic car restorations. He regularly attended the annual 'Hot August Nights' in Reno, just to appreciate the beautiful cars on display there. He is survived by his son and daughter Daniel Lusk and Jennifer Lusk, both of Santa Cruz ; his two step children, Amos Dughi of Salinas, and Amy Costa of Cottage Grove, Oregon; his father, Donald Ray Lusk of Santa Cruz; two sisters, Kathryn Greer of Gustine, California, and Janet Scharnow of Volcano, California. He is also survived by his brother, Michael Lusk of San Jose, his granddaughter, Kyla Lusk, step grandson Amos Dughi III, his former wife and friend, Cathy Ann Lusk of Santa Cruz, and his devoted friends Bill and Terrie Eames. Dennis was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Lusk and his long time companion, Carol Dughi. Friends are invited to a celebration of his life on Sunday, July 22nd, at Harvey West Clubhouse, beginning at 2 p.m. A private committal will be held at Oakwood Memorial Park where he will be laid to rest beside his mother, Shirley.
